One of the most intriguing matches on Sunday’s schedule pits an underachieving giant against a dark horse contender, both of which will be hoping to recover from unexpected stumbling starts to their Olympics campaign.

Argentina, as a footballing nation, have struggled to deliver on their great expectations. Such high hopes are not unfounded either. With a team that has seen graduates of the ability of Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero and a nation that centres around the success of the national side, the young squad has great expectation thrust upon their shoulders.

With the full side being thrown into disarray with the resignation of the head coach and retirement of Messi after a harrowing Copa America loss to Chile, any joy coming to Argentinians this summer will be on the back of this squad. However, a bad start saw them comfortably lose 2-0 to Portugal and they must tackle an Algeria side that is coming off the back of a terrible 3-2 loss to minnows Honduras.

A loss to either of these sides will most likely see them out of the competition. A true must win game, then, for both teams hoping to show that they can be considered as genuine challengers for the gold medal.
