Here’s a look at the four gold medal races that happened in Olympics swimming on August 7:

MEDAL RESULT | 100M Womens Butterfly

Sarah Sjostrom of Sweden had already set an Olympic record in getting to the 100m Women’s Butterfly competition in Olympics swimming, but she was ready to one-up herself when it mattered. Looking for her first Olympic medal ever, she captured the gold and set a world record in the process.

MEDAL RESULT | 100M Mens Breaststroke

Adam Peaty was dominant in the qualifying heats to get to the Men’s 100m Breaststroke and was favored to get Great Britain their first medal yet in Rio. He did that in more as he went off with a dominant performance where he broke the Olympic record he set earlier in the Games by going off and setting a new world record in the event.

MEDAL RESULT | 400M Womens Freestyle

There was so much hype about Katie Ledecky coming into the Summer Olympics after she caught the world on fire back in 2012. Four years apparently only made her even more dangerous in the pool as she set the world record by nearly two seconds and was over four seconds ahead of Great Britain’s Jazz Carlin, who won silver.

MEDAL RESULT | 4x100M Mens Freestyle Relay

In Michael Phelps’ first race in Rio, he ran the second leg of the Men’s 4x100m Freestyle relay. He and the rest of the United States team were dominant as they won gold, giving Phelps his 19th gold medal and 23rd medal overall.
