Olympics Women’s Basketball: Serbia vs Spain

If you had to pick the winners of the gold and silver medals in the Olympics women’s basketball competition at Rio 2016, 99 percent of people would say that USA and Australia would ultimately be the favorites to slot into those positions. However, the bronze medal is still up for grabs and seemingly could be anyone’s, but one of the favorites to grab third place will take the floor for the first time in Rio on Sunday in the Serbia vs Spain matchup.

That favorite to potentially win the bronze medal is of course the Spain women’s team as they’ve perennially been one of the most competitive teams in Europe. If they’re going to realize their potential and win a podium spot for Olympics women’s basketball, it’s going to take a master effort from the likes of point guard and captain Laia Palau.

On the Serbia side of things, they may not have the same level of talent as Spain, but they have chemistry and have proven to be dangerous. Point guard and captain Milica Dabovic will be leading the charge, but the question remains how successful of a charge it’ll be.

This game will not be broadcast until 3 p.m. ET on the Olympics Basketball Channel. However, live streaming of the matchup will be available in real time through the live stream on NBCOlympics.com and the NBC Sports app.
