5 NBA players who should make a comeback
By Matt Couden
A look at five NBA players from the league’s past that we’d like to see attempt their comeback in the league.
Within the past several weeks, a variety of players who seemed all but officially retired announced that they had some interest in possibly making a return to the NBA. Among them were veteran three-point shooter Ray Allen, former Lakers star Derek Fisher, big man Emeka Okafor and former Detroit Pistons star Richard Hamilton.
Stephen Jackson, who formerly played for the Pacers, Bobcats, Clippers and others could certainly help some squads out. He’s even claimed he’s been recruited by Rajon Rondo and Jimmy Butler of the Chicago Bulls to make his return to game action. Jackson, as well as the other players, could all provide a boost to many teams in terms of their veteran experience and their mentoring for younger players.
Of all the aforementioned players, Fisher is the oldest at age 42. Ray Allen is 41 years old and Richard “Rip” Hamilton and Stephen Jackson are each 38, while Okafor is the youngest name in the bunch at 33 years old. Also of note, two of the game’s greats just called it quits recently, with Kobe Bryant and Tim Duncan retiring. Bryant was 37 and Duncan 40 at the time of retirement.
With all these players coming out of the woodwork to express interest in returning to the league, it would be fun to look at some other players who could possibly make a comeback into the NBA. Without further adieu, here’s a look at five former stars who should come out of retirement to help a squad out in the coming season.
