Boston says the bobbles were unacceptable to the club and inappropriate for distribution.

The Boston Red Sox have pulled Tuesday night’s David Ortiz bobblehead giveaway because they believe what they received was inappropriate for distribution. No makeup date has been scheduled and the odd looking figurines will probably land in some country where no one knows who David Ortiz is.

The figurine in the tweet is alleged to be the one that was pulled and it may be understandable why the decision was made.  The team sent out a release that said all ticketed fans will receive a Big Papi bobblehead at a later date and they can find out when by visiting RedSox.com for more information.

The giveaway was supposed to commemorate Ortiz’s “This is our (expletive) city” speech after the Boston Marathon bombings and everything was correct, including the home uniform that read Boston instead of the usual Red Sox. However, Oritz’s face may be why they are not about to hand them out.

We may never know the full reasoning behind why the bobbleheads were pulled, but from looking at that picture above again, it really is a good thing they decided to pull the plug, as sad as it is for Boston fans.
