Micheal Phelps announced his “retirement” after the 2012 London Olympics. Though that only lasted for two years as he returned to the pool in 2014. With Phelps coming out of retirement he seemed not to miss a beat as he was his usual dominant self at the United States Olympic Trials and it has translated over to the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Though, with Phelps set to retire after the 2016 Olympics, this time, it should be set in stone. One has to realize that Phelps is ultra-competitive and it will be hard for him to walk away from the sport he loves and dominates time and time again.

Since swimming is not a sport that’s considered an “old man’s” one, this may spell the end for the great Phelps. That is because at this time four years from now he will be 35 and at that age, swimming can take a toll on his body. Though if anyone would still be able to do it at that age it would be Phelps because even at age 31 he’s defying Father Time.

Phelps is the most decorated athlete in Olympic history. He has 25 medals, including three gold medals (and counting) at the 2016 Rio Olympics. With that being said, here’s a list of every medal won by Phelps.
