Morning session

-Round of 16-

Men’s lightweight (60kg) 

  • (CUBA) Lázaro Álvarez def. Carmine Tommasone (ITA)

This was a dominant performance for Alvarez, who won a bronze medal back in the 2012 Olympic games.

  • (USA) Carlos Balderas def. Daisuke Narimatsu (JAPAN)

Balderas gets his second win and advances to the quarterfinals of the tournament.

  • (UZB) Hurshid Tojibaev def. Joe Cordina (GBR)

This was a slower-paced fight. Judges got it right, though.

  • (BRA) Robson Conceiçāo def. Anvar Yunusov (TAJ)

Yunusov injured his arm in the very first round of this fight, so he couldn’t do much against someone as good as Conceicao.

Men’s middleweight (75kg)

  • (ALG) Ilyas Abbadi def. Anauel Ngamissengue (CONGO)

Decent fight here. Abbadi has a lot of potential.

  • (AZE) Kamran Shakhsuvarly def. Zhao Minggang (CHN)

Easy work for Shakhsuvarly.

  • (MEX) Misael Rodríguez def. Waheed Karaawi (IRAQ)

Really, really good fight. Toe-to-toe action throughout the entire contest.

  • (CMR) Wilfried Ntsengue def. Jorge Vivas (COL)

I didn’t agree with the decision on this one, but I’m not a judge.

Men’s super heavyweight (91+kg)

  • (VI) Clayton Laurent def. Erik Pfeifer (GER)

Another fight that I didn’t agree with the decision. Good fight though.
