When will Michael Phelps swim again?

On Wednesday night, Michael Phelps put himself in position for another gold medal, finishing first in Semifinal 2 of the Men’s 200m Individual Medley. Racing alongside teammate and rival Ryan Lochte, Phelps edged out Lochte by a little over a second, as Lochte took second. Phelps swam the medley with a time of 1:55.78. Both Phelps and Lochte will now head to the final, which will be the final chapter of their longtime rivalry.

The next time Michael Phelps will be in the pool will be on Thursday, as he hits the pool three times. He will compete in the prelims (1:16pm ET) and semis (10:34pm ET) for the 100m butterfly, and will try for his fourth gold medal of this Olympics in the final of the Men’s 200m Individual Medley. Phelps will be looking to secure the gold medal in the event for the fourth consecutive Olympics, after winning in 2004, 2008, and 2012.

Lochte has dominated this event as well, winning the world championships in 2013 and 2015. However, he has never beaten Phelps at the Olympics in the 200m individual medley, so he will definitely be looking to change that on Thursday.
