When does Derrick Rose first play against his former and hometown team the Chicago Bulls?

The New York Knicks made crucial changes to their roster this summer. These additions should put the Eastern Conference and the league as a whole on notice. During the summer, the New York Knicks have agreed to deals with Joakim Noah and Courtney Lee and traded for Derrick Rose.

Rose, the NBA MVP in 2010-2011, spent eight seasons with the Chicago Bulls. Rose’s hometown is Chicago, and some fans the thought was that he would don a Bulls jersey for the entireity of his career.

His first game back will be on November 4th when the Knicks come to the United Center.

The Bulls brass came to a point were they had to reconsider Rose’s future with the team. Rose’s career has taken a drastic downturn since his 2012 ACL injury, which cause him to miss the entire 2012-2013 season, most of 2013-2014 and many games the last two seasons.

Ultimately, he Bulls were ready for a split.

On top of the injuries, the chemistry between Rose and budding star Jimmy Butler was lacking, which made the move to trade Rose all the more necessary. The trade also allowed to Bulls to seemingly start fresh with Rajon Rondo at point guard and by nabbing Dwyane Wade from the Heat in the off-season.

Rose is surely looking at his tenure in New York as a season to prove to everyone that he still has it. As he’s set to hit free agency in 2017 and he’ll be sure to put his best foot forward as most players do in contract years.

Rose’s first game against the Bulls will definitely be emotional as he’s a Chicago born and raised and was once look at as the Bulls’ savior after  years of misery.
