In one of the first games of the 2016 NFL preseason, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston fumbled against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Jameis Winston and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense struggled early in the team’s first official 2016 NFL preseason game. The sophomore quarterback out of Florida State University was involved in a play where he fumbled the ball right near the Philadelphia Eagles’ red zone.
It was the second costly turnover of the game for the Bucs in just the first quarter. A clip quickly made it onto the NFL’s official Twitter account to spotlight the latest mishap by Tampa Bay in one of the first preseason games of 2016.

The play came in a tumultuous first quarter of the preseason game for the Bucs. On a first down situation, Winston dropped back a bit to try to make something happen. At first it appeared he might air it out with a huge pass down field. Unfortunately for him, his offensive line didn’t hold off the charging defenders as Benny Logan made it to Winston to force the fumble. Fletcher Cox was able to pick up the ball just inside the 10-yard line.

By the way, this wasn’t the first of the Bucs’ fumbles in this game. The team coughed up the ball on the very first play of the contest when a kickoff return was lost, also inside the Eagles’ red zone. That led to the first touchdown of the game for Philly.

The good news is that this is just preseason, but the bad news is it could carry over into the regular season. With Philadelphia already up 7-0 and the comedy of errors that the Bucs were putting on, it looks like it might be a long season in Tampa Bay.
