After three matches of round-robin pool play, the beach volleyball knockout stages begin on Day 7 of the 2016 Rio Olympics. Friday’s slate includes four matches in the Round of 16 for both the men’s and women’s tournament.

The field will be made up of the top two teams from all six pools, plus the two best third place teams. In addition, winners of two “lucky losers” matches between the next four best third place teams will round out the qualifiers for the playoffs.

While exact match-ups are yet to be determined, Pool A champions Adrian Carambula and Alex Ranghieri of Italy will be in action against a lucky loser squad at 2:00 p.m. Second-place finishers Viacheslav Krasilnikov and Konstantin Semenov of Russia will also be in action at 10:00 p.m.

On the women’s side, medal favorites Talita Antunes and Larissa Franca will look to move on at 10:00 a.m. in front of what’s sure to be an electric home crowd.
