Live stream info and how to watch Olympics field hockey on August 11 online.
There will be eight games on the schedule during Thursday’s field hockey action, as both the men and women have four games each. The biggest match of the day will be on the men’s side, as there is a huge battle in Group A. Spain and Belgium will battle it out for supremacy in their group, as the two countries have proven early to be the class of Group A.
Germany, who leads Group B, will also be in action, as they take on Argentina. The battle of the have-nots will feature Ireland and Canada, who will all be looking for their first points of the competition.
Over in the women’s competition, there are certain to be some lopsided affairs on Thursday. Great Britain currently leads group B with nine points, and they will take on Japan, who only has one point up to this point. In Group A, top-seeded Germany will face Spain, who has yet to earn a point in competition.
The men’s preliminaries will end on Friday, with four of the six countries in each Group advancing to the quarterfinals. The women finish up their prelims on Saturday, with eight countries heading to the quarters. In the 2012 London Olympics, Germany won gold in the men’s division, while the Netherlands won it for the women. Both countries are sure to make it to the quarterfinals, with a chance to repeat.
