Catch all the highlights from the final MLB game in the career of Alex Rodriguez as the New York Yankees played the Boston Red Sox.
Friday, August 12, 2016, will be remembered by baseball fans as the day that Alex Rodriguez played his last game for the New York Yankees. Unless another team signs him after he is released by the Yankees, it will also be remembered as A-Rod’s last MLB game.
Before the game, A-Rod got a pregame ceremony from the Yankees. Naturally, a storm literally stole his thunder as the ceremony was delayed due to the weather. It was a great ceremony that featured good friend and former Yankees teammate, Mariano Rivera. A-Rod has done a lot of positive things for the Yankees and they did a great job thanking him.
Rodriguez has had a lot of good games against the Tampa Bay Rays during his career. Teammate Derek Jeter got his 3,000th hit against the Rays. A-Rod started off his night on the right foot with a RBI double off Chris Archer that brought the crowd to its feet. But even before that, the Yankees faithful made him feel loved with a very nice standing ovation.
In his second at-bat, Rodriguez grounded out to the shortstop. He struck out in his third at-bat. However, arguably the greatest highlight from A-Rod’s game had very little to do with Rodriguez himself. Starlin Castro, who tied the game at 3 earlier with a two-RBI single, gave the Yankees a 5-3 lead with a two-run home run. The happiest person in the ballpark? Probably A-Rod.

A-Rod’s fourth and final at-bat resulted in a groundout to the shortstop. Eventually, the fans started chanting for A-Rod and Girardi gave the fans what they wanted. He spent one out in the field before being replaced.
As always, A-Rod showed that he can come through in the biggest moments with his RBI double in the first inning. If this is truly the last that baseball fans have seen from Rodriguez, he went out strong.
