Burnley start their second Premier League campaign in three seasons on Saturday, and they’ll be hoping things go a little better this time around. In 2014-15, the Clarets finished with 33 points in 19th place. They started that season promisingly enough, taking the lead in their first match against eventual champions Chelsea, but ended up losing the game, and had to wait two months for their first win. Manager Sean Dyche will hope that experience, disappointing though it was, will help his side avoid a similar fate in 2016-17. Swansea at home is a relatively tame opening fixture, but if the Welsh club flirts with relegation like they did last season, this could have big implications come May.

Swansea had an up and down season in 2015-16. Garry Monk was sacked in December after a promising first month of the season. His replacement, Francesco Guidolin, wasn’t exactly a household name in England, but he did a good job guiding the Swans to safety. This time, Guidolin will be aiming for a comfortable mid-table finish. He will have to do it without last season’s star player, Andre Ayew, but will still be able to rely on Gylfi Sigurdsson in attacking midfield, while Swansea fans will expect big things from new signings Fernando Llorente and Borja Baston.
