Cardale Jones should be focusing on his play for the Buffalo Bills, but instead, he is focusing on a tweet from January of 2015.
Cardale Jones is currently in his first training camp as a member of the Buffalo Bills. A National Championship winning quarterback at Ohio State University, Jones is currently the third-stringer for the Bills. Instead of focusing on learning the Bills offense, Jones has chosen to focus on a tweet from January of 2015.
Before the Buckeyes National Championship Game against the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2015, former Dallas Cowboys legend Emmitt Smith tweeted out something that could have been viewed as a diss to Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliot. Apparently, for Jones, the wounds are still very fresh.
The apparent diss from Smith did not affect Elliot, who ran for an incredible 230 yards in the Buckeye victory. In fact, he put the game to bed with an 85-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
In a rare twist of fate, the Cowboys ended up drafting Elliott in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft, as the star running back landed with the same organization that Smith became a legend with. On Thursday, Jones took to twitter to tell everyone his hopes for Elliot this season, and in the future.
The problem is that Jones is bringing up old news, and in fact, Smith told people after Elliot was drafted that he was actually better than he ever was.

Elliot is an incredible talent, and he could eventually be a very good player in the NFL. Emmitt Smith is the NFL all-time leading rusher, so Elliot has a long way to go before he even can sniff Smith’s stats. While it was very nice of Elliot’s former teammate to show him some support, the timing could not be worse.
For Jones, perhaps he should jump off twitter and pick up his playbook.
