DraftKings MLB Picks: Top Bargain plays for August 12thĀ

Finding value can be the ever so elusive, ā€œHoly Grail.ā€ Making cap room for pitchers and big bats can make all the difference in a lineup. With a little elbow grease in the research department, I’m hoping to provide a handful of players that could provide critical salary relief for tonight’s DraftKings MLBĀ picks.

Tonight’s slate features 14 games with two team projected to score over 5 runs. The Red Sox’s have the highest team total with 5.9 runs and the Rangers come in second with 5.6 runs. These two teams should be fairly chalky as the next highest totals are 4.8 runs. Unlike the usual pricing when the Rockies are playing at home, Boston and Texas are both fairly under priced given their expectations for tonight. Here are some of my recommended players to check out when looking to save salary.

Sandy Leon $3400/Bryan Holaday $2900 – BOS (C)

Both catchers are extremely under priced given Boston’s team total and whichever catcher gets the start is going to provide great value. The Red Sox’s are facing the lefty, Corbin, tonight. Leon is a switch hitter that fares much better against lefties and Holaday is a righty who similarly enjoys facing a lefty. Both have power upside and are simply too cheap.

More from FanSided

Mikie Mahtook – TB (OF) – $2500

Mahtook is a ridiculously cheap option in the outfield tonight. He crushes lefties relative to righties where he holds a .424 wOBA against lefties and merely .265 against righties. Mahtook is another cheap option with some pop in his bat. He holds a .274 ISO split against lefties.

Jurickson Profar – TEX (1B/2B) – $3900

As mentioned, Texas is projected to score 5.6 runs tonight and Profar is under priced given his match up. Profar will benefit from facing a righty, where he holds a .358 wOBA. Anyone priced under $4000 on a team with one of the highest expected totals on the night should be considered.

Trea Turner – WSH (2B/OF) – $3900

Turner has reverse splits with a .338 wOBA and .202 ISO against righties. Turner’s value will be dependent on his position in the order and hopefully he draws the lead off position again. Turner provides dual position eligibility and stolen base upside.

Others Players to Consider:Ā Tyler Collins,Ā Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Daniel Descalso

Note: Keep in mind that recommended plays are based off of early information and will be subject Ā to change as lineups are released. Some cheaper players are more suspect to be scratched from the lineup or bumped down the lineup order. Follow me on Twitter @MattMcGarvey215, where I’ll try to update these plays the best I can!
