Welcome Back!

We are back with the stud and steal of the day for MLB DFS! Looking at tonight’s slate of twelve baseball games, it can be daunting to decide who deserves a place in your lineup. Knowing which star player is worth the money can be the difference between a winning night and one that ends in failure. However, finding the hidden gems that perform well are equally as important because they can let you spend more on your starting pitchers. This article will touch on one expensive player who is primed to have a big night, and one cheap player whom you wouldn’t normally play but is a great play tonight in MLB DFS.

MLB DFS:The Stud of the Day: Nolan Arenado, 3B, ($5,200 DK, $3,900 FD)

Welcome back Mr. Arenado, you were certainly missed on the stud of the day. That’s right, today’s stud of the day is once again the Rockies all-star third baseman Nolan Arenado who has a great match-up against Jake Thompson and the Phillies. Now you might be asking a couple of questions, 1. Who the heck is Jake Thompson, and 2. How can Arenado be the stud of the day if the Rockies aren’t playing at Coors.

The answer to the first question is, nothing to write home about. Thompson was called up to get a taste of life in the big leagues and has looked completely over matched against big league hitters. In his only start he only lasted 4.1 innings and got shelled for 6 runs on 7 hits, four of which were doubles. He shouldn’t stand a chance against the potent Rockies lineup even without Trevor Story who was recently placed on the DL.

Now the answer to the second question is a pretty obvious one to anybody who has actually watched Arenado play, he isn’t a product of Coors Field. That’s right Nolan Arenado is legitimately one of the best third baseman in all of baseball and the idea that you can only think about rostering him when the Rockies play at home is laughable. Arenado has hit 22 home runs this season against right-handed pitching, 10 of those have come on the road as well as 28 RBI’s to go with that. Even when he doesn’t have the advantage of playing in the world’s most friendly ballpark Arenado still rakes.

Don’t over think things tonight, you’ve got one of the best players in the game going up against a fill in starter for Philadelphia. I’d be shocked if Thompson gets through the 5th inning tonight, the question isn’t if the Rockies will score, its how many will they get.

MLB DFS: The Steal of the Day: Jacoby Ellsbury, OF, ($3,800 DK, $3,300 FD)

While I always say don’t rely strictly on batter versus pitcher stats, sometimes a batter simply has an opposing pitchers number. This is the case tonight with Jacoby Ellsbury who faces off against Chris Archer of the Tampa Bay Rays.

More from DFS

Ellsbury vs. Archer: 18/28, .643 AVG!!!!!!!!!!! 1 HR, 3 SB, 1 2B

I don’t know what else needs to be said, the man is hitting over .600 in a fairly large sample size. When you get a match-up this perfect, Draftkings almost always makes the hitter above 5K yet they’ve decided to leave Ellsbury at $3,800 which makes him an absolute lock in your lineups.

Look to pair a Rockies stack with Ellsbury tonight and you might even be able to afford one of the aces on the mound. The Rockies shouldn’t be heavily owned because of the game not being in Denver so who knows, they might even help you take down a GPP. While I expect that Ellsbury will be heavily owned, its 100% worth it to have him in your lineups as the points are too important.
