Olympics Women’s Basketball: Canada vs United States
The level of dominance that Team USA has in the Olympics women’s basketball competition is unreal. In fact, you could argue that they are more dominant than any other athlete or team in any respective sport. They’ve looked every bit the part through their first three games, but now they have a big test. On Friday, the United States will face another 3-0 team in the Olympics women’s basketball competition. Not only that, but it’ll also be a North American rivalry game as it’s Canada vs USA.
You can pick anyone on the USA Basketball roster on any given day and they could win a game. Diana Taurasi has been leading the way offensive with her perimeter scoring, but it’s not been a solo effort. Tina Charles and Brittney Griner have dominated the interior. Elena Delle Donne and Breanna Stewart have been massive coming off of the bench. And players like Maya Moore and Sylvia Fowles have been incredible at times as well. Now the question is if they can maintain this greatness against better competition.
Canada has truly been impressive through the first six days and three games at Rio 2016. They hold strong victories over China, Serbia, and Senegal in these Olympic Games thus far. While the scores haven’t all been overwhelming, they’ve been tenacious and victorious, which is all you can ask. However, the likes of Lizanne Murphy and Kim Gaucher are going to have to be at peak form. If those two aren’t at their best, Canada’s going to have a bad time against Team USA.
