Olympics Women’s Basketball: Serbia vs China
There has been a great deal going on in the 2016 Rio Olympics women’s basketball competition already. The jockeying for momentum and position below Team USA has been furious and exciting. However, not all 11 other teams have been fully involved. In fact, two teams trying to enter that conversation will face off on Day 7 of Rio 2016 in the Olympics women’s basketball competition. Serbia vs China could put either team right in the mix in the preliminary round with a victory.
Serbia opened up their Olympics with a loss to Spain, a team that’s been quite good in this tournament. They then followed that up with a tough loss to Canada in their second matchup. What wasn’t close for Serbia, though, was their loss in their third game in Rio. They weren’t even within striking distance of the United States in their 26-point loss. However, they’ll look to take down China and become relevant in knockout round conversation. Of course, that’ll depend on which Chinese team Serbia comes up against in regards to their inconsistency.
Just like Serbia has throughout their run in the 2016 Olympics, China also has losses to Canada and Serbia. The Chinese women lost to Canada in their opener from Rio, handily being beaten by 22 points. A loss to Spain came in their latest outing, losing by 21 points to the Spanish women. That beings said, China does have one victory to their credit with a win over Senegal. Though it’s just a lone victory, that’s more than Serbia can boast coming into this matchup on Friday.
