Updated 2016 Rio Olympics medal count after the United States won a bronze medal in men’s team fencing

The United States is always seemingly one of the leaders when it comes to the Summer Olympics medal count. They always have many great athletes all over the board competing. However, they certainly have their events that they specialize in. One such event has traditionally not been fencing. Even still, that didn’t stop the US men’s fencing team from going out in Rio and winning a bronze medal.

Taking on Italy in the bronze medal match, the US team delivered a masterful effort. They’d been garnering buzz throughout the fencing competition. However, to see them deliver on that by grabbing a medal was a great sight to see.

USA winning a bronze was quite helpful in the Rio Olympics medal count . The bronze increased their lead in regards to overall medals won. Moreover, they also still held the lead in terms of gold medals won, despite having not one won yet on Friday.
