Let’s talk about one of the best seasons of Game of Thrones.

In terms of A Song of Ice and Fire, there’s a clear favorite book among many fans, and it’s A Storm of Swords, the third book in the series. This is the book that has some of the most iconic moments in the story so far, the kind of moments that get their own names and are usually talked about in the most glowing of terms. So, no pressure for the third season of Game of Thrones, right?

Wrong. However, iconic moments came, and they were pretty glorious, all things considered. It’s important to note that critically, this season shares the title of “best score on Rotten Tomatoes” with season 4, at a near-perfect 97%.

There were a couple of wobbles, but no season of television is perfect. Game of Thrones is no different. With all that said, though, it’s time to dive into season 3 and break down some of what worked, what didn’t, and why “Mhysa” is a pretty decent episode even if it does end with one of the most awkward shots ever.

(Spoiler: it’s not number 10. Or number 9, even!)
