By John Buhler
Sunday, August 14th marks the final day of the Olympic badminton preliminaries. Here’s how to watch all of Sunday’s action online via live stream.
Sunday is the last day of the Olympic badminton preliminary stage, as the Men’s Singles event will wrap up its qualifiers by the afternoon and the Women’s Singles will finish its qualifiers later in the evening. On Sunday evening, the quarterfinals will begin in the Mixed Doubles during the evening session at Riocentro.
The final day of prelims will begin promptly at 7:00 AM ET or 8:00 AM ET local time in Rio de Janeiro. As it has been the case with the other days of Olympic badminton preliminaries, Day 4 will only be seen on American television briefly from 4:00 PM ET to 7:00 PM ET on CNBC.
Badminton will air in conjunction with a Women’s Handball prelim between Norway and Romania and a Men’s Field Hockey quarterfinal between two opponents yet to be determined. To not miss a second of Olympic badminton action, it is one’s best interest to stick to the live steam on NBCOlympics.com.
Three players to watch in the final day of prelims include American Iris Wang, Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei, and China’s Lin Dan. Wang survived Portugal’s Telma Santos by winning the last two sets on Friday’s prelims. She’ll face China’s Li Xuerui at 2:55 PM ET with a chance to advance in the Women’s Singles.
