Live stream info for how to watch the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics swimming men’s 4x100m medley relay finals event.
Michael Phelps could be making the 2016 Rio Olympics his last, as the 31-year old appears to be finishing up his career in Rio. Phelps has done everything a swimmer could possibly do in Olympic competition, becoming the greatest swimmer in the history of the sport. As the Rio Olympics swimming schedule begins to wind down, fans will get to see him race one last time.
During his illustrious career, Phelps has dominated the 4x100m medley relay. In his last three Olympics, Phelps has won gold in the event, setting the Olympic record during the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China. The 4x100m medley has been dominated by Phelps for the last 12 years, and he will look to continue that run on Saturday.
In 2008, Phelps and company set the record by posting a time of 3:29.34. Incredibly, the 2012 United States team nearly toppled that time, missing out on the record by 0.01 seconds.
With a win on Saturday, Phelps would have taken the gold medal in this event for four straight Olympics. He usually swims in the number three position, before giving way to the anchor. He already has won the gold in the 4x200m medley in the 2016 Rio Olympics, so look for the United States to be favored in this one as well.
During the qualifying heats, Great Britain had the best time of all other countries, setting a national record with a time of 3:30.47. Joining Great Britain and the United States in the field will be Japan, China, Australia, Russia, Brazil, and Germany. In 2012, Japan and Australia finished with the silver and gold, respectively.
