Live stream info for how to watch the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics swimming Women’s 4x100m medley relay finals event.
The 2016 Rio Olympics Women’s 4x100m medley relay final will take place on Saturday, as the United States looks to bring home a second consecutive medal in the event. The 2012 London Olympics were a record-setting performance for the USA team, as Missy Franklin led a team of four superb swimmers to the gold medal. Franklin is no longer on the team, but there is still a lot of talent there.
The 2012 Summer Games was the coming out party for Missy Franklin, who became the face of American swimming. Longtime star Michael Phelps appeared to be on the decline of his career, and Franklin came out of nowhere to captivate the world. The 2016 Games have been a reversal of fortunes for both swimmers, with Phelps winning four gold medal, and Franklin not even qualifying for her signature event.
Still, that 2012 USA team dominated the pool, setting Olympic and World Records in the event. Their time of 3:52.05 beat the Olympic record set by Australia in 2008 (3:52.69), and China’s World record of 3:52.19. Team USA will be looking to repeat that effort in 2016, as four new swimmers hit the pool. The new Team USA will consist of Olivia Smoliga, Katie Meili, Kelsi Worrell, Abbey Weitzeil.
The United States had the best time in the heat, posting a mark of 3:54.67. Canada and Denmark finished second and third in the qualifying event.

During the 2012 London Olympics, Australia took home the silver medal, and like the United States, they will have four new swimmers on their 4x100m medley relay on Saturday. Japan, who won the bronze in 2012, did not qualify for the finals in 2016.
