Olympics weightlifting continued with Day 7 of the event, with more champions crowned on Sunday evening.

Weightlifting at the 2016 Rio Olympics has seen plenty of action. A handful of gold medals have been handed out to competitors from various countries. World records have also been set as well. This includes a one from Kazakhstan weightlifter Nijat Rahimov. On Day 5, in the 77 kg event, he lifted 379 kg to accomplish this feat.

On Saturday, there would be one non-medal and one medal event taking place. The men were the only ones in action. Who would walk out with a medal on August 13?

In the men’s non-medal 94 kg, Volodymyr Hoza took home a victory for Ukraine. He lifted 375 kg. Park Hanwoong of South Korea took second place by lifting 367 kg. Kendrick Farris of the United States had 357 kg to place third. This was for Group B.

The medal event saw Sohrab Moradi of Iran lift 403 kg to win gold in the 94 kg. Vadzim Sraltsou of Belarus took home silver by lifting 395 kg. Aurimas Didzbalis of Lithuania lifted 392 kg to win the bronze medal. This was for Group A.

So, after Saturday’s competition, China remains in first place for the weightlifting medal count with six. They have four golds, two silvers, and zero bronze. Thailand is in second place with four total medals. They have two for gold, one for silver, and one for bronze. Iran is in third place with two gold medals.

Weightlifting at the Olympics is beginning to win down, as there are only three more medal events left. Sunday will feature the women in action. Then, the men will compete on Monday and Tuesday to finish the events. Who will walk out of Rio with medals?
