Olympics Women’s Basketball: Turkey vs Brazil

The action is winding down in the 2016 Rio Olympics women’s basketball preliminary round with only two days of games left. First off, Saturday, August 13 will see the final three games from Group A play out with teams still trying to solidify a spot in the knockout rounds. Two teams facing off where one has that specific goal in mind will be Turkey and Brazil. Those two teams will square off at Youth Arena on Day 8 looking to make some magic happen.

As the host nation, Brazil struggling mightily in this competition has been the story thus far. Through four games, they’ve yet to notch a win in the competition. In fact, Brazil have already been eliminated from the knockout round as no result will push them through. However, that doesn’t meant that they couldn’t play the role of spoiler and go out with a win on Saturday. That’ll certainly be their motivation heading into the matchup on Day 8.

Turkey certainly hasn’t been wholly inspiring in this competition at all. Even still, they currently sit in fourth place in Group A and will advance with a victory. They’ll be looking to try and use their size and experience to topple the host nation and leave the latter winless. With Brazil fighting for national pride as the host nation, though, that could be easier said than done for this Turkey squad.
