The New York Yankees have called up top prospects Aaron Judge and Tyler Austin from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
With Alex Rodriquez hanging up his cleats after Friday night, replacements are needed in the Yankees’ lineup. Both prospects will get the start in the lineup Saturday afternoon, the team has announced.
Aaron Judge is the number four prospect in the Yankees minor league system, according to MLB.com. The outfielder was a 2013 draft pick out of Fresno State and became a top power hitter in Triple-A. Judge is just 24 years old with a big frame at 6-foot-7, 275 pounds. He’s hit a slash line of .270/.366/.637 with 19 home runs in 93 games with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Tyler Austin has battled injuries over the last few seasons, but battling is nothing new for the 24-year old cancer survivor. Drafted back in 2010 out of Kennesaw State University, the 6-foot-2, 220-pound outfielder has played well in Triple-A competition. Through 57 games this season, Austin is hitting .323/.415/.637 with 13 home runs and 49 RBI.

The Yankees face the Tampa Bay Rays in a division match-up at 1:05 this afternoon. Judge will get the nod in right field and bat eighth in the rotation. Although Austin has spent a majority of his minor league days in right field, he will get the start at first base, as he’s had experience there. He will bat seventh in the lineup today and will expect to compete for playing time in the outfield as well.
