Olympics Men’s Basketball: Serbia vs China
Serbia offered one of the most impressive performances of the Rio Olympics in their men’s basketball matchup. Nikola Jokic and company gave Team USA all that they could handle and more. While the Serbs walked away with a three-point loss, they have to be feeling confident right now. Now they’ll look to parlay that confidence into more success, starting on Sunday night as they finish up Group A play against China.
Jokic was flat-out dominant against the United States on both offense, defense, and on the glass. However, Milos Teodosic and Bogdan Bogdanovic have also been great throughout and were great their last time out. This matchup with China will be their most important yet, though. Despite solid play, Serbia is currently just in fourth place in Group A and tied in points with Venezuela. Especially if Venezuela somehow upsets Australia, the Serbs need the victory over this China team to secure that they advance. So it’d definitely be ideal if they could show the same form they did against Team USA.
China on the other hand is all but eliminated from this tournament. Though they could theoretically make it through with a win, it’s highly unlikely. What’s more is that they enter Sunday 0-4 in Group A, the only winless team. However, they’ll still be looking to salvage pride with a win over Serbia and will keep their opponents on their toes.
