Live stream info and how to watch Olympics women’s handball from Day 9 at Rio 2016 online

After an exhilarating start to the competition, the preliminary round of Olympics women’s handball comes to a close on Sunday, August 14. All 12 teams competing in the event will be in action. Subsequently, all 12 teams will try to improve their seeding, stay alive, or even just salvage some pride on Day 9 of the 2016 Rio Olympics. Whether they accomplish that depends on their performance on Sunday.

Montenegro and Brazil will start the day out of Group A in a bit of an odd match in terms of implications. Montenegro is winless in Rio and won’t make it to the knockout stages. Meanwhile, Brazil still represent one of the dark horses in this competition and are already through. A win, though, could improve their seeding moving forward.

Moving over to Group B for the second match of the day, Sweden and France will square off. The outcome of this matchup could influence seeding in the next round as France sits in second with Sweden in third. Therefore, a win for Sweden would vault them into the two seed. That match will be followed by Netherlands and Russia facing one another. Russia hasn’t accrued a loss yet in Rio, but Netherlands could feasibly vault to the third seed with a win. Which narrative prevails will be the big thing to watch here.

Taking the court next will be Norway and Romania from Group A. Norway already punched their ticket to the next round. However, Romania will start on the outside looking in. An upset victory could change that, though, which the Romanians will be hoping for. Finishing off Group A will be Spain and Angola in a matchup between third and fourth place. The winner obviously will be in a much more favorable position moving ahead.

Finally, finishing off the preliminary round of the women’s handball is sadly a match between two winless teams. Argentina and South Korea will both be looking to save face from Rio simply by notching a victory.
