Live stream info and how to watch Olympics Greco-Roman wrestling online on August 14.

Olympics wrestling finally gets underway in the ninth day of Rio 2016, and there will be no shortage of excitement for wrestling fans.

After being a mainstay at the Summer Olympics since 1904, it looked like this would be the last time we would see wrestling at the Games when the IOC voted to have it dropped in 2020. However, the wrestling community banded together and kept the sport on, but it will come with some rule changes.

For starters, matches are now two three-minute rounds rather than three two-minute rounds, and scoring is now cumulative. This gets rid of a flawed scoring system in which a wrestler could win a round 5-0, and lose the next two 1-0, losing the match as a result. This should lead to better matches as the wrestlers are now encouraged to score early and often.

Mixed martial arts fans will surely be watching Olympics wrestling with a lot of intrigue, hoping to find the next Daniel Cormier, Henry Cejudo, or Ben Askren. Obviously the biggest name to watch is Jordan Burroughs, but he doesn’t compete until August 19 in freestyle wrestling. There will only be two Americans competing on the 14th but one of them, Andy Bisek, is among the favorites to win Gold.

Details for the men’s 59kg and 75kg Olympics Greco-Roman wrestling on Sunday are below:

Date: Sunday, August 14
Start Time: 9 a.m. ET
Location: Rio de Janiero, Brazil
Arena: Carioca Arena 2
TV Info: NBCSN
Live Stream: NBCOlympics.com

The first Olympics wrestling event will be men’s Greco-Roman in the 59kg and 75kg weight classes. Of course, the biggest difference between Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling is that you can’t grab your opponent’s legs. This forces people to get more creative with their takedowns as a result.

The action will begin at 9 a.m. EST with qualification matches. By the end of the day, two Gold medals will be awarded. Olympics wrestling won’t be televised until 5 p.m. EST, when NBCSN shows the medal matches. If you want to watch the Greco-Roman tournament in its entirety, you can stream it all on NBCOlympics.com and the NBC Sports app.
