The annual Call of Duty Championship will go down at Call of Duty XP from September 2 to September 4 in Los Angeles, California. Here are the groups, which contain the teams that will be competing against each other at the event.
It’s that time of the year again, as the Call of Duty Championship will go down once again, with teams around the world competing on Call of Duty: Black Ops III. Things are a little different this year, though.
Rather than the event taking place early in the year, the event date was shifted to September for 2016 to take place alongside Call of Duty: Experience 2016. Other than the Call of Duty Championship, the multiplayer reveal for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will also be shown off, and there will be many other activities for the attendees to participate in.
On Monday, during a live stream from the official Call of Duty YouTube page, announcers Maven, CouRage, Revan and Mr. X announced the teams that are competing and which groups they’ll be competing in. CouRage and Revan separated the groups in four different pods, labeled A through D. A total of 32 teams will be competing at the event, so eight teams were separated in pods A through D.
As they picked different names from the pods, each team would get assigned to a total of eight different groups competing at the event. So there’s a total of eight groups with four teams competing against each other in each group. To get a better understanding of how the format works, check out this video below.
Now that the groups are official for the Call of Duty Championship, some of the best teams in the world, such as OpTic Gaming, Team EnvyUs and FaZe Clan, will not only be competing for a chance to be considered the best Call of Duty team in the world, but they will also be competing for a lot of prize money. In fact, it’s the biggest prize pool in Call of Duty tournament history at a total of $2 million. Check out the complete group draw right here:
Once again, the Call of Duty Championship will take place September 2 through September 4 during Call of Duty: Experience 2016. It should be a great event, especially for Call of Duty fans everywhere.
