Destiny – The Collection officially announced

All guardians will be able to buy a new version of Destiny, which comes bundled with all four adventures and the new DLC dropping later this year, Rise of Iron.

Destiny was one of the most anticipated and hyped up games in recent memory. With Bungie’s track record with the incredible Halo franchise, it’s hard not to get excited for any new game they’re working on, especially with a new IP like Destiny, which showed so much promise.

When Destiny officially dropped on September 9, 2014, it was welcomed by many gamers across the globe. Unfortunately, it didn’t take long to realize that the game didn’t live up to all the hype. At its core, the game is definitely fun, but it lacked many features and the variety originally promised by the developers.

For the first couple of months, after players completed almost everything that the game offered, many stopped playing. It wasn’t until December that the first DLC (downloadable content) was released, titled The Dark Below. Soon after that, another DLC package titled House of Wolves was released in May of 2015.

But it wasn’t until September of that same year when an absolutely huge expansion would draw many players back into the game. The Taken King changes much of the core gameplay and has a variety of content to tackle, which was what the fans were asking for at launch. Bungie took a while to deliver on all it promised, but Destiny is definitely an enjoyable game, especially with all the content that followed after launch.

On Monday, it was officially announced that a new version of the game titled Destiny – The Collection will release on September 20, 2016. Not only will it come with the previous four adventures, including DestinyThe Dark BelowHouse of Wolves, and The Taken King, but it will come with a brand new expansion, one already slated for a September release, titled Rise of Iron.

With gamescom 2016 happening this week and Bungie holding an event, we can expect some news and new footage of Rise of Iron. We may also get a glimpse at the sequel to Destiny, which is scheduled to release in 2017, but we’ll have to wait and see.
