It looks like players everywhere will once again be playing as Sam Fisher if rumors about a brand new Splinter Cell game are true.
It’s been three years since we last played a Splinter Cell game. The last entry in the series was 2013’s Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist, and fans of the series have been longing for a new game in the series. Other than the Metal Gear Solid franchise, there really isn’t another game that masters stealth gameplay the way Splinter Cell does, and now that Hideo Kojima is no longer at Konami and involved in developing the Metal Gear Solid franchise, it’s no hot take to say that those games will never be the same.
The Splinter Cell series has always been extremely fun to play, and although news of a new game haven’t been officially confirmed, according to NeoGAF, a new game in the series is currently in development.
In one of the NeoGAF forums, a person who has been reliable in the past with revealing information about other games has stated that not only is the game in development, but also that series regular Michael Ironside will be returning as the main protagonist, Sam Fisher.

Considering that many game reveals are leaked by others on the internet, whether they are true or not, this is definitely a possibility, especially since gamescom 2016 is this upcoming week. But, don’t get too excited just yet. If rumors are true, we may very well be seeing some sort of announcement at gamescom. Even if they aren’t true, a new entry in the series is long overdue, and we’ll most likely hear something about a new Splinter Cell game soon enough.
