DraftKings MLB Picks: Top Bargain plays for August 15thĀ
Finding value can be the ever so elusive, āHoly Grail.ā Making cap room for pitchers and big bats can make all the difference in a lineup. With a little elbow grease in the research department, Iām hoping to provide a handful of players that could provide critical salary relief for tonightās DraftKings MLBĀ picks.
Last night, Seattle fell flat, only scoring 3 measly runs, but Iām back and ready to find some value. Tonightās slate is a loaded one, with 15 games. Similar to last nightās the game at Coors Field, tonightās game in Colorado is providing us with two of the highest team totals, Colorado (5.6) and Washington (5.9). Texas joins these two teams as the top scores with a projected total of 5.8. There is a considerable gap between these teams and the rest of the field, but I think there are some viable value plays tonight. Here is my list of recommended sources of salary relief.

Andrew Benintendi ā BOS (OF) ā $2800
The Soxās have a projected total of 5.1 runs and Benintendi could capitalize on this. Heās been solid since being called up in early August. Benintendi will be facing a righty, where he holds a .431 wOBA. Heās so cheap that batting order shouldnāt matter in this situation.
Jett Bandy ā LAA (C) ā $2600
Bandy is another extremely cheap play, in a match up where he crushes lefties. His split against lefties have been ridiculous; He holds a .503 wOBA and a .441 ISO.
Chase Utley ā LAD (2B) ā $3500
Utley will return home to Philadelphia to take on the Phils tonight. Taking a stroll off of narrative street, Utley is on the good side of a lefty vs. righty split where he holds a .324 wOBA. As long as Utley is leading off, heās a sufficient play at a moderate price.

Yunel Escobar ā LAA (3B) ā $3100
Third base has many high-priced options tonight (Bryant, Arenado, Turner), but if youāre looking to spend down at the position, Escobar could provide salary relief. Escobar will face Miranda, a lefty. Escobar has a wOBA of .409 against lefties.
Xander Bogaerts ā BOS (SS) ā $3900
Itās rare that we see a Red Soxās player priced under $4000, but Bogaerts is a great option at shortstop tonight. Bogaerts has neutral splits, so facing a righty shouldnāt hamper him much. Given the expected team total of 5.1 consider Bogaerts when evaluating the shortstop position.
David Dahl ā COL (OF) ā $3200
Why? Just why? Dahl is, yet again, severely under priced. His neutral splits off set his match up with the lefty, Gonzalez and given the total, heās one of my favorite plays tonight.
Ryan Raburn ā COL (OF) ā $3300
Another Rockie that is priced way too low. Raburn is a righty that enjoys facing a lefty, as he holds a .407 wOBA and a .278 ISO split. Raburn and Dahl should be heavily considered in cash games.

Note: Keep in mind that recommended plays are based off of early information and will be subject Ā to change as lineups are released. Some cheaper players are more suspect to be scratched from the lineup or bumped down the lineup order. Follow me on Twitter @MattMcGarvey215, where Iāll try to update these plays the best I can!
