4. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Despite having just three professional sports franchises, Pittsburgh has fostered one of the absolute best sports environments in the country.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are the town’s most recently crowned, as the team defeated the San Jose Sharks in the Stanley Cup Finals, the franchise’s fourth overall and second in the Sidney Crosby era.

While the Pirates haven’t won a World Series in quite some time, the team has won five overall, and has lately reemerged as a legitimate, perennial threat in the National League.

The city’s biggest sport, of course, is football, where the Pittsburgh Steelers have rattled off a NFL record Six Super Bowl wins. If it hadn’t been for some unfortunate injuries this past season, there’s an outside chance the City of Three Rivers could’ve brought home a seventh.

15 world championships between three teams? With that kind of consistency, it’s no wonder Pittsburgh landed so high on our list.
