Gamescom 2016: New Yooka-Laylee trailer

We got a brand-new look at the spiritual successor to the very popular Banjo-Kazooie game, Yooka-Layle, and it looks awesome.

When a new developer, consisting of former creators t the video game company Rare, decided they were going to create their own company and create a new game that would pay homage to the ’90s, we couldn’t have been more excited to see what they had in store. This new company is now known as Playtonic Games.

Last year, Playtonic Games started a Kickstarter project known as Yooka-Layloe – A 3D Platformer Rare-vival! We didn’t know what exactly they were planning, but once we figured out that it was a spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie, that was all we needed to know. The Kickstarter ended up being very successful, making over two million dollars with the help of 75,000 backers.

Banjo-Kazooie was one of the many games Rare brought to the Nintendo 64 in the ’90s. Arguably one of the best 3D platformers of all time, it’s one of the games that set the standard for the genre. For a while, the video game industry has strayed away from these types of games, which is very disappointing considering how popular they were in the ’90s. It’s great to know that Playtonic Games have decided to revisit the genre with Yooka-Laylee.

We’ve gotten a few looks at the game through various gameplay videos throughout 2016, and now there is brand-new trailer that was revealed at Gamescom 2016.

Looking at the trailer, it definitely delivers a feeling of nostalgia and, in all honesty, we just can’t wait to get our hands on this game to try it out for ourselves.

Yooka-Laylee is set to release sometime in early 2017 on all platforms.
