In the latest NFL rumors, it appears Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson has been taken off the PUP list after recent evaluations.

In good news for Green Bay Packers fans, it looks like star wide receiver Jordy Nelson has a clean bill of health. A recent tweet on Twitter via Field Yates of ESPN indicates that Nelson passed all of his recent physicals and was removed from the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.

The 31-year-old Nelson tore his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during the 2015 NFL preseason. The injury occurred in a game on Aug. 23, 2015 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. In a recent ESPN report, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers even spoke about how cautious teams are when it comes to the preseason games now.

Rodgers was quoted as saying, “When you have a major injury to a star player like we had last year in the preseason, I think it’s only natural that there’s a little bit of a more cautious approach to the rest of that preseason and then to the next season.”

That injury, which occurred in just Week 2 of the preseason, came after just an eight-yard pass from Rodgers to Nelson. The wide receiver fell to the turf without contact and one of the worst imaginable injuries in sports would later become verified.

The ACL tear sidelined Nelson for the duration of the 2015-16 NFL season. Green Bay went on to lose in overtime to the Arizona Cardinals in the divisional round of the playoffs. Having Nelson in the lineup certainly could have helped.

With Nelson ready to go for 2016, fans can certainly get excited for the season ahead as one of the best quarterbacks in the game today will have one of his top targets on the field to throw to.
