Live stream info and how to watch Olympics women’s freestyle wrestling online on August 17.
While the wrestling at the Olympics has been great thus far, some people might be tired of seeing just men who can’t grab the lower body. Today’s wrestling action provides a welcome change of scenery as the first women’s freestyle tournaments get underway.
While Greco-Roman wrestling has been around as long as freestyle wrestling has, freestyle is the purest form of the sport since there are no restrictions. And as you can imagine, women’s wrestling is a fairly new addition to the Summer Olympics, added to the Games just 12 years ago. It’s great to see how far the sport has progressed.
While every day of wrestling has featured tournaments in two weight classes, the women’s wrestling events will have three weight classes, meaning there will be no shortage of action. There are some notable Americans with a great chance to win their first wrestling gold medal, but they won’t be competing today. The only American in the mix is Haley Augello, and she isn’t favored to make it to the podium.
