The 2016 NFL season creeps nearer and nearer with each passing day, but it feels even closer when you consider that the second week of the preseason commences on Thursday night. After a first week where we got the first look at many key rookies and much more, it’s time to further examine the full rosters of these teams. The first game of the week will be a showdown between the Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field.
Rookie quarterback and No. 2 overall pick from 2016 Carson Wentz made his debut for the Eagles last week. Though he had some flashes, he struggled a bit when put under pressure. With the addition of receiver Dorial Green-Beckham via trade earlier this week, the Eagles will definitely be looking to see more from Wentz and to hopefully see more promise from the rookie than before.
As for the Steelers, there’s only so much that they can really be looking for when they’re already so much of a known commodity. Obviously you want the offense preparing to be without Le’Veon Bell to start the season and the receivers getting ready for life without the help of Martavis Bryant, but the other stars are still there and still really good. Essentially, there’s not much to see here from the home team.
