Eva Marie suspended for WWE Wellness Policy violation
Eva is the third superstar in two days to be suspended for violating WWE’s Wellness Policy.
Whoever is typing up suspension letters for WWE this week is putting in some overtime. In the span of two days, three superstars have been suspended for violating the company’s Wellness Policy, the most recent being the rookie redhead known as Eva Marie.
On Wednesday, WWE posted on their website that Paige and former World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio had both been suspended for violations. Eva Marie received her suspension on Thursday, as she will serve a 30-day break for her first offense.
The timing couldn’t be worse, as WWE is gearing up for SummerSlam this weekend in Brooklyn. WWE posted the following on their website and Twitter page regarding her suspension:
Eva has had a rough stretch in recent months, trying to make her official debut on the SmackDown roster. Her first roadblock came in the form of an injury. Earlier this month, an unexpected wardrobe malfunction prior to a match with Naomi stopped those proceedings. Now a Wellness Policy violation will put that debut off a little bit longer.
WWE has been very vocal about their suspensions in the past. Roman Reigns received a 30-day suspension that kept him off TV until last month’s Battleground pay-per-view. A first violation carries a 30-day suspension, a second offense results in a 60-day suspension, and a third strike will carry a termination of contract.
If a WWE superstar is terminated, they are eligible to return after a period of one year, but they will return with two strikes on their record. After each violation, they are tested multiple times over the course of the next year. The WWE Corporate site holds a summary of the Wellness Policy.
