WWE star Nikki Bella was medically cleared by doctors for her return to the wrestling ring.
It appears WWE women’s wrestler Nikki Bella could be returning to the ring in the near future. The former WWE Divas Champion and E! reality television star was recently given the OK for a return to action by doctors leading to anticipation of when she might surprise fans.
Nikki has not only been an active member of the WWE roster since 2008, but has been appearing on the E! reality show Total Divas since 2013. She’s set to be a part of a new reality show focused on her family called Total Bellas, also on E! this year. With wrestling among her top passions, she’s been out of action for months now, leaving her fans to wonder if she might have to retire.
On Thursday, Pro Wrestling Sheet reported the good news that doctors have officially given Nikki medical clearance to return to the WWE ring after months off due to neck surgery. There had been recent reports that she was working at the WWE’s Performance Center. Videos and photos surfaced that showed Nikki working in the ring with NXT star Bayley, among other women’s wrestling talents.
Nikki has been out of action since late 2015 and off television since earlier this year. She made a surprise appearance in a neck brace during a big women’s tag match at WrestleMania back in March. That particular match was the last of her sister Brie’s career (for now). Brie had announced she wanted to leave WWE to be with her husband Daniel Bryan and start their family.
While Nikki is cleared to wrestle, word is that the WWE and doctors are telling her to take things slow. Some fans are already speculating that she’ll show up as a surprise women’s tag team replacement for the SummerSlam match this Sunday. One of the original participants, Eva Marie, was recently suspended for 30 days by the company.
It’s always possible Nikki will participate in the match, in a very limited role. There’s been plenty of women’s wrestling matches in which some participants weren’t too involved in the action. However, WWE may save the surprise for an episode of Raw after a pay-per-view.

That said, any involvement by Nikki in a match would be exciting for her fans to see. It would also trump Eva Marie, who has yet to debut in a match since she was drafted to Smackdown.
