Here’s how to watch Friday’s track and field action at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Seven more medals will be handed out on Friday, as the 2016 Rio Olympics track and field competition continues.
The night will be capped by the finals of both the women’s and men’s 4×100 relay at 9:15 and 9:35 p.m., respectively. Jamaica and the United States are expected to battle it out for the gold in both events.
Just prior to the relays will be the finals of the women’s 5000 meters. The United States has had a solid showing in distance events these Games and will be represented by Shelby Houlihan in the 5,000 final, but she will have a lot of work to do to beat 10,000 meter champion Almaz Ayana of Ethiopia.
The only field event final of the day will be the women’s pole vault at 7:30 p.m. Defending Olympic champion Jenn Suhr of Team USA easily passed the qualification height on Tuesday.
Racewalking will return on Friday morning with the finals of the men’s 50 kilometer walk at 7:00 a.m., followed by the women’s 20 kilometer walk. China is expected to pick up medals in both events, but will have to beat world record holder Yohann Diniz in the men’s competition.
Qualification action for the day is headlined by the first round of both the men’s and women’s 4×400 relay.
