WWE star Seth Rollins calls out UFC’s Conor McGregor

Seth Rollins had some harsh words for UFC star Conor McGregor and his comments about the WWE.

With WWE’s SummerSlam pay-per-view just days away, Seth Rollins will be among the major wrestling stars in action. He recently appeared on ESPN’s SportsCenter and talked about a variety of subjects. The most pressing of them was, of course, his reaction to what Conor McGregor said.

According to CageSideSeats, Rollins was asked his opinion about McGregor’s rants where he called WWE guys “p—sies” and “messed up in the head.” Rollins responded by saying:

“If he was serious about it, guy’s 5’6”, 145 or whatever he walks around at, I don’t know, but you can see me here, I’m a full-size human being, so if he wants to come around and try to slap the face off me or whatever insult he’s got for the day, by all means, come step into our ring and see what you got.”

In addition to the above comments, Rollins got a chuckle, suggesting that McGregor seems to be trying to do what WWE stars often do: sell pay-per-view buys. With the comments towards the WWE roster plus a recent can throwing incident at a UFC press conference, McGregor has been doing the “work.”

Rollins, real name Colby Daniel Lopez, is currently listed at 6-foot-1 and 217 pounds on his Wikipedia entry. He took a lengthy hiatus from the ring after suffering a torn ACL, MCL and medial meniscus in his knee during a move at a live WWE event. While the road to recovery was likely long and painful, he’s now contending for a championship belt on Sunday night.

Rollins has demonstrated athletic skills in the ring based on his high-flying moves and overall execution. In addition, his training regimen and the fact he has come back from tough injuries, surgery, and rehab, is all a testament to the fact that wrestlers may be just as tough as MMA fighters.

It should be interesting to see if Conor responds to the challenge from the WWE wrestler who calls himself “the man.”
