Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Marcell Dareus announced his plans to enter a rehab facility.

Saturday afternoon was a busy day for the Buffalo Bills. Moments after releasing Karlos Williams, one of their defensive tackles, Marcell Dareus, made a big announcement that he was entering rehab. The news comes after he was suspended four games and apologized for a “frustrated and disappointed” Bills team.

According to the Buffalo Bills website, Dareus released a statement with regard to his intentions to enter a rehabilitation facility. The statement read:

"After careful consideration of recent events within my life, I have made the decision to enter a rehabilitation facility. I feel this is the best decision for me, my family and my teammates as I move forward with my career. I appreciate the support of my teammates and the Bills organization through this process."

Dareus was given a four-game suspension by the NFL earlier this week due to a violation of the league’s substance abuse policy. The former Alabama standout apologized during a press conference this past Wednesday, according to AL.com. He had also apologized a day prior to that via his Instagram account.

The Bills defensive tackle will begin his rehab process following the suspension. It was reported that his drug policy violation came due to a missed test.

His teammate Karlos Williams also had a pending four-game suspension, but on Saturday the team released him from his services with them. It seems Dareus is at least trying to make an attempt now to salvage his life and career, following the suspension news. So far the team has seemed supportive of his decision to get things back on track.

The Dareus and Williams news have added to the growing list of roster problems for the Bills. Rookie defensive end Shaq Lawson is out at least a month due to a shoulder injury. Rookie linebacker Reggie Ragland and veteran linebacker I.K. Enempkpali are both out for the season due to knee injuries.

Buffalo is scheduled for a preseason game on Sunday against the New York Giants. That may be the positive in all of this, as they’ll try to figure out which player combinations will work best for the upcoming season.
