Michael Phelps hasn’t spoken to his swimming teammate Ryan Lochte since leaving the Rio Olympics and hopes good people will take care of the embattled Olympian.

Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps was questioned by paparazzi while on a Starbucks run in his hometown in Arizona. E!Online released exclusive footage of his response when asked if his infamous teammate, 32-year-old Ryan Lochte, will emerge from all the controversy surrounding his raucous behavior in Rio and subsequent fake robbery story.

Phelps said, “We have good people taking care of us, so hopefully.”

When asked if he’s had words with him since Rio, the 31-year-old replied, “I haven’t spoken to him at all.”

Lochte is completely different from Phelps

The contrasting demeanor between the two Olympians couldn’t be more different. Think about it. On the night of the incident, Michael Phelps celebrated his wins quietly with his family. Who could forget adorable infant Boomer with those USA earmuffs in the stands?

He also took the time to tweet a photo of the winning USA swim team to congratulate them:

The Tuesday that Lochte got the hell out of Rio before the truth caught up with him (and left his friends in the lurch), Phelps graced the cover of Sports Illustrated with USA teammates Katie Ledecky and Simone Biles.

Lochte’s lawyer still says he’s a “victim”

All the while that Lochte was insisting that he was the “victim” of an incident where he vandalized a gas station, urinated behind it and belligerently tried to get out of paying for the damages, Michael Phelps was spending time with his family and keeping a low profile.

Speaking with USA Today on Friday, Lochte’s Fort Lauderdale-based lawyer, Jeff Ostrow, was still insisting that the original tale Lochte told wasn’t far from the truth.

“I think that there’s two ways you can look at it,’’ Ostrow said. “You can look at that my client and the other swimmers are in another country being yelled at in Portuguese with a gun pointed at them, and the gun was pointed right at Ryan. And that when they’re being told to give up their money in another language with a hand signal ‘money,’ that looks like a robbery… From my client’s respect, that’s what happened.”

Conger’s statement confirms Lochte as the chief vandal

Also, on the same day, Jack Conger stated that Lochte was the one who trashed the gas station, ripped a plaque off the wall and made a lot of noise.

Phelps has had his share of controversies in the past, but since Boomer was born and he made his quest to be at this year’s Olympics, where he achieved so much success, he’s maintained a demeanor of discipline and excellence.

Not only does Phelps surpass Lochte in his medal count, but also in his reputation.

The same day that Lochte’s lawyer was still insisting that his client misunderstood an upset gas station agent yelling at him about drunkenly and laughingly damaging his property for a robbery, Michael Phelps tweeted about how grateful he was to be part of the Games and thanked Rio for their good will.
