The race walker leader in the 50k on Friday, Yohann Diniz, had some serious bowel issues during the race and then ended up collapsing

When it comes to being an Olympic athlete, there is a lot that you have to deal with. These are some of the best-trained, well-conditioned athletes on the planet, but there will still be issues that pop up during competition that will be a struggle to get through.

Well, for French race walker Yohann Diniz, he dealt with an issue on Friday that came about at the most inopportune time, and in reality, it led to his Olympic dreams coming to quite the screeching halt. Now this was definitely something that he couldn’t train for.

On Friday the race walking 50k event was taking place, and Diniz was looking to be in good position, as he was in the lead. However, as time wore on, people could start to see that he was dealing with a particular problem that would most certainly crush his dreams for gold. You see, he would have been in good position if race walkers were able to take some bathroom breaks.

Yes, in case you haven’t guessed it already, Diniz was having some bowel issues — okay, yes, he was pooping himself as he was walking the race. It was the worst timing in the world, but when your body wants to take over, your body is going to take over.

Eventually, as you’d imagine, he just couldn’t go anymore and collapsed right there on the trail.

Now you’re probably wondering whether or not Diniz was able to finish the race, and if he was able to, where exactly did the former leader finish?

Well, amazingly, he was able to finish it all just six minutes behind the winner, which all things considered here is pretty damn impressive. I probably would have just called the entire day a wash from that point and — well, went and washed myself, to be quite honest.
