Nikki Bella returns for WWE SummerSlam 2016 match

Women’s wrestling star Nikki Bella made her big return at Sunday night’s WWE SummerSlam 2016 pay-per-view.

At Sunday’s WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view, former Divas Champion Nikki Bella finally made her anticipated return to the ring. With an open spot in a six-woman tag match, Nikki filled in nicely for a suspended Eva Marie.

All of the known participants were introduced for the big match. First, it was Naomi, Carmella and Becky Lynch. Then came Natalya and Alexa Bliss. Of course, that left one mystery spot to be filled for their team.

Cue up Eva Marie’s entrance music and introduction as WWE continues to generate heat for her even when suspended for 30 days. Her announcer ran through her various descriptors before saying Eva wouldn’t be there due to physical exhaustion among other things.

From there, Nikki Bella’s music hit and she made her return, drawing audible cheers from the Brooklyn crowd. It would seem that with her return, she will be a part of the Smackdown roster, possibly as a heel. However, this was one pay-per-view match. It’s possible she could now be in some sort of bidding war between Raw and Smackdown’s management.

Nikki had recently been medically cleared for a return to action after a long time off due to injury. The longest-reigning Divas champ of all time had been training at the Performance Center with various women’s wrestlers including NXT’s Bayley.

For many fans, seeing Nikki back in action was a welcome sight. Still, there are a large number of fans who were hoping she might stay away. It’s hard to argue that she’s among the more polarizing superstars, but then again she is dating John Cena.

It was good news for Nikki as she not only looked good with a slight bit of ring rust, but also captured the win. Nikki ultimately hit her Rack Attack on Carmella for the pinfall. Welcome back!
