WWE SummerSlam 2016 results and full highlights from New Day vs Gallows and Anderson for the Tag Team Championship

For the first time in quite a while, the New Day were forced to come out at WWE SummerSlam 2016 without Big E. After Gallows and Anderson took out the enforcer of the New Day, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods were tasked with defending the Tag Team Championships without Big E against Gallows and Anderson on Sunday night.

After being introduced by an honorary member in Jon Stewart, New Day got underway. Despite not having Big E, New Day came out like a ball of fire. Kofi was moving like he was shot out of a cannon right out of the way, flying in and out of the ring to take out Gallows and Anderson. However, even the highest of flyers can succumb to the power of Gallows. The big man started asserting his size and making things happen.

When Xavier Woods and Anderson got in the ring, though, things really evened out for a bit. Woods would get his offense in, but then the challenger would find a counter. It wasn’t until Xavier was dispatched that things really got spiced up at SummerSlam. That’s when Gallows and Anderson were able to get their tag team maneuvers going, including hitting the Magic Killer on Kofi. However, Stewart dove in the ring after to try and stop the pin.

As you’d expect, Gallows and Anderson were having none of that. They were then able to withstand a feeble attack from Woods and looked to take Stewart’s groin into the ring post. Right as they were about to, though, Big E ran out to the New Day’s music and saved the day. New Day took the DQ loss, but got the last laugh at the end of the day with them standing tall and dancing.
