DraftKings MLB Picks: Top Bargain plays for August 22nd.
Finding value can be the ever so elusive, āHoly Grail.ā Making cap room for pitchers and big bats can make all the difference in a lineup. With a little elbow grease in the research department, Iām hoping to provide a handful of players that could provide critical salary relief for tonightās DraftKings MLBĀ picks.
Tonightās slate is fairly small, featuring only 8 games. There are not many games that standout from a team total perspective, but the top two teams are the Diamondbacks (5.1) and the Cubs (4.8). Pricing seems to be tight and as of now, therefore, there isnāt one specific team that appears under priced. Ā There are a few high-end pitchers available tonight and if you want to pay up for Lester, Price, Carrasco, or Strasburg, youāll have to find some savings somewhere. Here is my list of recommended bargain bin plays.

Philip Gosselin ā ARI (2B) ā $3100
Gosselin is my favorite value play on the slate. Heās extremely under priced, playing on Arizona (expected to score the most runs (5.1)), and could be batting in the top six. Gosselin has neutral splits and if he makes the lineup, heāll be a great play.
Hyun-Soo Kim ā BAL (OF) ā $3600
Kim may be my new, John Jaso. Kim is facing the righty, Strasburg, tonight. Kim is a much better hitter against righties with a .394 wOBA and .125 ISO split.
Seth Smith ā SEA (OF) ā $3000
Smith makes this list for his position in the order (2nd) and his splits against righties. Heās much better against righties with a .348 wOBA split. Smith generally has a solid floor against right handing pitching and should be in consideration for cash games.

- Packers: 3 free agency mistakes Brian Gutekunst should already regret

- Jim Harbaugh facing 4-game suspension over NCAA violations
Sandy Leon ā BOS (C) ā $3300
Leon continues to be under priced on DraftKings. The switcher hitter is much better against lefties where he holds a .467 wOBA and a .281 ISO split. Leon has been a stud through the month of August. HeĀ also posses power and home run upside.
Daniel Descalso ā COL (1B/SS) ā $3300
Colorado is projected to score 4.7 runs and Descalso could be a beneficiary. Descalso fares much better against righties with a .332 wOBA
Josh Bell ā PIT (OF) ā $2600
Bell was called up when Kang was placed on the DL. We donāt have much of a sample on Bell, but heās played very will in the minors with a .295 average, 14 home runs, and 60 RBIās. The Pirates have a sufficient projection of 4.5 runs and Bell is very cheap.

Some cheaper players are more suspect to be scratched from the lineup or bumped down the lineup order. Follow me on Twitter @MattMcGarvey215, where Iāll try to update these plays the best I can!
