Fantasy Football Sleepers: Top value based off Average Draft Position

I want to break down a few rounds of fantasy football and determine where there is great value, or lack thereof, depending on player’s average draft position (ADP). I will evaluate player’s value using ADP rankings for a 10-team, standard league provided by Fantasy Football Calculator to help you find the best fantasy football sleepers.

Round 3

Keenan Allen: Undervalued

Allen is being grossly overlooked considering what he was able to do in just eight games last season. The third-year pro put up monster numbers in the first half of the season before a lacerated kidney sidelined him for the year.

Allen saw 89 targets and caught 67 of them for 725 yards and eight touchdowns. He was on pace for 178 targets (4th in league), 134 catches (3rd), 1,450 yards (tied 5th) and eight touchdowns. We’re talking about a guy who’s going into his fourth year, just received a contract extension and plays in an offense with an underrated quarterback who will force feed him the ball. He’s a steal in round three.

Round 5

Jeremy Hill: Undervalued

Hill under performed considering his ADP going into 2015, but this guy is still the feature back on a formidable offense that plays behind a dominant offensive line.

Hill ran for over 1,100 yards in his rookie year, but that number decreased to 794 in his sophomore campaign. Even with that decline in production, Hill still managed to find the end zone 12 times.  Fumbles are what has held him back – he’s put the ball on the ground eight times in his two seasons in Cincinnati, a concern that’s caused him to sit on the bench too frequently for fantasy owners likeness.

Regardless of his down year, Hill is still only going into his third year, and he is still going to be the Bengals’ no. 1 running back. Gio Bernard will see time like he always does, so nothing should change in that aspect. Look for the Bengals to run the ball even more now that they’re missing some big passing targets, and you can take the chance on Hill for a pretty good price.

Next: Value in Cleveland

Round 8

Duke Johnson: Undervalued

Johnson quietly had a promising rookie season on a terrible team. The Browns are a completely new offense under new head coach and former offensive coordinator Hue Jackson, and Johnson should be a big reason why Cleveland has success moving the football in 2016.

New quarterback Robert Griffin III has impressed this off season, and we haven’t even seen him with his full offense. RG3 will have QB-turned-WR Terrelle Pryor, rookie Corey Coleman, Josh Gordon and Gary Barnidge to throw to. Defenses will have to respect this newfound passing attack, and Johnson should benefit significantly from it.

The rookie put up encouraging numbers in just seven true starts; he tallied 379 yards on the ground and 534 through the air. He’ll compete with Isaiah Crowell for carries, but make no mistake, Johnson is the Browns no. 1 receiving back. He caught 82 percent of his targets last season – the Browns trust him, and so should you.

Note: Gio Bernard is projected to fall behind Johnson in the 8th. He’s a safer option with a higher floor.

Round 10

Stefon Diggs: Undervalued

It seems no one wants to talk about Stefon Diggs, a second-year prospect who will be the no. 1 receiver on an emerging offense. Diggs has been “by far the most impressive offensive player” in camp this preseason, but he’s still projected to go in the later-half of the 10th round.

Diggs will compete for targets with rookie Laquon Treadwell, receiver Jarius Wright, and that’s about it besides the running backs. He’s going to be Bridgewater’s no. 1 guy, and there’s not many no. 1 receivers you’ll be able to find this late in your draft.

Next: Late Round Value Targets

Round 12

Michael Thomas: Good Value

The Saints rookie has made quite some noise this off-season. Drew Brees and the Saints love to throw, and they’ll be without Marques Colston for the first season in a long time.

Thomas should fit right in as one of Brees favorite targets. He had 18 touchdowns in his last two seasons at Ohio State, and he poises really good value in round 12.

Note: You can steal Devin Funchess in the bottom half of round 12. Cam Newton has praised the second-year receiver this off-season, and he can be a big part of an explosive offense.

Round 13

Quite a few names jump out in round 13: Christine Michael, DeAndre Washington, Jared Cook, Dwayne Allen and Alfred Morris

More from Fantasy

Michael seems to of had an “awakening” in Seattle – skill has never been the issue, putting together the mental aspects have been. He’s worth monitoring moving forward.

Washington will be the no. 2 running back in Oakland, an explosive offense with an elite offensive line. The rookie has made a ton of noise this camp.

The Packers acquired Cook this off-season and plan to use him frequently. He’ll finally have an elite QB throwing him the football.

Allen is now the undisputed no. 1 tight end in Indianapolis with Fleener gone to New Orleans. He’ll be on the field a ton more in an offense that loves to throw.

Morris has impressed in Dallas early, and the veteran still has good football ahead of him. Luckily, he’ll be running behind the league’s best offensive line.
